What to look for in shredded foam fill
Bulk foam fill varies a lot in quality. Much of what is sold online is scrap from mixed sources: different densities, different colors, sometimes bits of hard foam or fabric mixed in. It compresses unevenly and can smell. Good fill is cut from a single, known foam so every cluster behaves the same way.

Which bag size do you need
A 5 lb bag (about 2 cubic feet) tops up two or three standard pillows or fills one queen pillow from empty. A 10 lb bag (about 4 cubic feet) handles a couple of king pillows, a body pillow, or a small dog bed. A 20 lb bag (about 8 cubic feet) fills a large dog bed, a floor cushion, or a child-size bean bag. A 40 lb bag (about 16 cubic feet) is for a full-size bean bag chair, a set of outdoor cushions, or a large-breed dog bed.
Fill weight depends on how firm you want the result. For pillows, weigh your current fill and match it. For bean bags, most people use 1 to 1.5 pounds per cubic foot of bag volume for a supportive feel. When in doubt, size up; leftover fill keeps indefinitely in a sealed bag and is handy for topping up our Adjustable Pillow later.

How much shredded foam fill do I need for a bean bag?
Estimate the bean bag's volume in cubic feet, then plan on roughly 1 to 1.5 pounds of fill per cubic foot for a supportive, sit-on-top feel, or a little less if you like to sink in. A typical adult bean bag chair takes 20 to 40 pounds. Our 40 lb bag, about 16 cubic feet, fills most large bean bags.
Can I use this fill to refill a pillow?
Yes. It is the same fill we use in the LOUNJ Adjustable Pillow. Unzip your pillow cover and inner liner, add clusters a handful at a time, and shake to distribute. A 5 lb bag will top up several pillows or fill one queen pillow from empty. Store leftover fill in the sealed bag for later.
Is the fill safe for dog beds and kids' cushions?
Yes. LOUNJ fill is CertiPUR-US certified for low emissions, contains no fiberglass, and is made without fire-retardant chemical sprays. It is hypoallergenic and low odor. Use a zippered inner liner so the clusters stay contained, and choose a washable outer cover. Spot clean the foam itself; do not machine wash it.
How many cubic feet is each bag?
Roughly 2 cubic feet for the 5 lb bag, 4 cubic feet for 10 lb, 8 cubic feet for 20 lb, and 16 cubic feet for 40 lb. Exact volume varies a little because the clusters are irregular and settle over time. The bags arrive compressed, so let the fill expand for a few minutes before you measure or use it.
Does shredded memory foam fill flatten over time?
Memory foam clusters recover their shape far better than polyester fiber or standard polyurethane scrap, which packs down into a hard layer. Fill will settle with use, so fluff the item now and then, and top it up if it ever feels low. Every bag carries a 5-year warranty against defects.
Is the fill one consistent foam or mixed scrap?
One foam. Every bag is shredded from LOUNJ gel-infused open-cell memory foam, poured in our own Phoenix factory.
