A standard king, sometimes called an Eastern king, is 76 inches wide and 80 inches long, the same length as a queen and 16 inches wider. It is the widest standard bed. A California king is 72 x 84: 4 inches narrower and 4 inches longer, and the two are not interchangeable. A split king is two Twin XL mattresses, 38 x 80 each, side by side to make 76 x 80; it is the setup used on most adjustable bases.
Measure the mattress before ordering. If it is 76 wide and 80 long, this is your page. If you have a split king, you can still order a one-piece 76 x 80 topper to bridge the gap between the two mattresses, or two Twin XL toppers if the base adjusts independently on each side.
One topper, two sleepers
A king gives each person 38 inches, the width of a twin, so you have more freedom to choose a thickness for comfort rather than compromise.
