All RV Mattress ToppersThree foams, cut the same way
Latex, memory foam and poly foam solve different problems. All three are cut to the dimensions you send. Not sure which fits how you sleep? Say so in the quote form.
- Gel memory foam: contours to your shoulders and hips and stays put. The gel infusion pulls heat away from the surface. 2, 3 or 4 inches. Slow sink, pressure relief. Best for side sleepers and sore hips and shoulders. CertiPUR-US certified.
- Talalay latex: springy and responsive. It pushes back instead of sinking, sleeps cooler than memory foam, and holds its shape for years. 2 or 3 inches, 24 ILD (softer) or 28 ILD (medium). Best for hot sleepers, combination sleepers and adjustable bases. Natural, Oeko-Tex certified.
- High-density poly foam: for beds too soft or too thin to fix with comfort foam alone. Add it under a latex or memory foam layer to rebuild support instead of adding cushion. 1 to 4 inches, 1.8 lb HD. Best for sagging RV and sofa bed mattresses.
Custom topper sizes we cut most
These are the sizes people ask for when the standard twin through king lineup does not fit. If your bed is not on the list in the table below, that is fine. Measure it and send the numbers.
Sizes vary between manufacturers and model years, so measure your own mattress rather than trusting the name on the spec sheet. A short queen from one RV builder is 60 x 74; from another it is 60 x 75. A queen sleeper sofa is 60 x 72, not 60 x 80. We cut to the numbers you send, in half inch increments, and custom sizing itself is not an upcharge. You pay for the material and the labor either way.
Several of the most common RV sizes are also stocked as finished products that ship same or next business day: see the short queen, RV king, short king and RV bunk pages, or browse all RV mattress toppers.
How to measure: three numbers get you a quote
Width, length, thickness. Two minutes with a tape measure and we can price it exactly.
- 1. Measure the mattress, not the frame. Pull the sheets off and run the tape along the top surface of the mattress at its widest and longest points. Frames run a little larger than what sits inside them.
- 2. Round to the nearest half inch. We cut in half inch increments. If your mattress reads 59 and three quarters, send 60. A topper slightly under the mattress size sits better than one slightly over.
- 3. Pick your thickness. 2 inches softens a firm bed. 3 inches is the common choice for a bed that has gone flat. 4 inches is for a mattress you are trying to rescue. Check your headboard, side rails and any guardrail before going thick.
- 4. Tell us what it is going on. RV, sofa bed, antique frame, hospital bed, adjustable base. Knowing the bed helps us flag anything that will not work before you spend money on it.
Beds that were never going to fit off the shelf
RV and camper. RV mattresses are thin, firm and rarely a standard size. A topper cut to your short queen, bunk or short king makes the road bed sleepable.
Antique frames. A 48 x 75 three quarter bed or a pre-war full will not take a modern topper. We cut to the mattress you have. See our three quarter mattress topper page.
Sleeper sofas and Murphy beds. Pull-out mattresses are thin by design and you can feel the bar through them. A 2 or 3 inch topper cut to the shorter 72 inch length folds back into the frame instead of bunching. See sofa bed toppers.
Split king and adjustable bases. Cut as two independent halves so each side still articulates. Latex is the better pick since it bends without creasing at the hinge.
Truck sleepers and cab bunks. Semi cab bunks run somewhere between 35 x 79 and 42 x 80. See truck sleeper toppers.
Daybeds, trundles, loft beds, hospital beds. All end up between standard sizes. Any dimension in half inch increments is a normal order.
From measurement to doorstep
Step 1, send measurements. Width, length, thickness, foam choice, cover or bare, and what bed it is going on. That is everything we need to price it.
Step 2, get a written quote. Price, foam options and lead time by email within 1 to 2 business days. No deposit to see it, and nothing is charged until you approve.
Step 3, we cut and sew. Your piece is cut to spec in our Phoenix, AZ factory and, if you added one, fitted with a zippered stretch-knit cover. The cover is optional but recommended: it keeps the topper in place, comes off to wash, and adds years to it.
Step 4, rolled and shipped. Compressed, boxed and shipped free by FedEx Ground to the lower 48. Most custom pieces ship within a week of approval. Because each piece is cut to your dimensions, custom orders are not returnable for size, which is why we confirm every measurement in writing before cutting. Manufacturing defects are covered by the 5-year warranty.

Questions about custom mattress toppers
What sizes can you actually cut?
Anything from a bunk up to 80 x 84 inches, in half inch increments, at 1 to 4 inches thick. Custom sizing itself is not an upcharge; you pay for the material and the labor either way. There is no minimum, so one piece is a normal order.
How much does a custom mattress topper cost?
It depends on square footage, material and thickness, so we price each one rather than posting a table that would be wrong for most people. Send your measurements and you get the number in writing within 1 to 2 business days, before anything is cut and before anything is charged.
Do you cut rounded corners or odd shapes?
No. We cut rectangles to your exact dimensions, which is what the large majority of custom orders need. If your mattress has rounded corners, order to the full width and length. The small overhang at each corner tucks in under the sheets and is not something you feel.
Can I just buy a standard topper and cut it myself?
You can cut foam with an electric knife, but the edge will not be square, and latex in particular tears rather than slices cleanly. A cut piece will not fit a cover, and cutting it voids most warranties. Ours are cut to your spec on factory equipment and keep the full 5-year warranty.
Talalay latex or memory foam for a custom size mattress topper?
Latex if you sleep hot, change positions during the night, or want the topper to push back; our Talalay comes in 24 ILD for a softer surface and 28 ILD for medium. Memory foam if you sleep on your side and want your shoulder and hip to sink in. If you are between the two, tell us how you sleep in the form and we will recommend one.
Do I need a cover?
Not required, but recommended. Bare foam grabs at sheets and picks up body oils. A zippered stretch-knit cover keeps the topper in place, comes off to wash, and adds years to it. You can add one to any custom size, including RV bunks and sofa bed cuts.
How long does a custom topper take?
Quotes go out within 1 to 2 business days of receiving your measurements. Once you approve the written price, most custom pieces are cut, packaged and shipped within a week, free by FedEx Ground to the lower 48. The topper arrives compressed and expands within about a day of unrolling.
Is a custom topper returnable, and will it work on an adjustable base?
Because each piece is cut to your dimensions, custom orders are not returnable for size. That is why we quote in writing and confirm every measurement before cutting; defects are covered by the 5-year warranty. On adjustable bases, yes: for a split configuration we cut two independent halves, and latex flexes best at the hinge points.
Send us three numbers
Width, length, thickness. We will come back with a written price, the foam options that make sense for your bed, and how long it takes. No obligation, nothing charged until you approve.
