Why latex is a smart choice for a camper
RVs run warm, and latex is the answer for sleepers who find memory foam too hot even with gel. Talalay latex is naturally open-cell, so heat and moisture move through it, and it does not hug the body the way memory foam does. You sleep on it rather than in it, which also makes turning over easier in a narrow RV bed.
Latex is also durable and resilient. It springs back immediately, resists body impressions, and handles the temperature swings of an RV without stiffening in the cold the way memory foam can. It is naturally hypoallergenic and resists dust mites and mold, which is welcome in a space that gets closed up for weeks at a time. LOUNJ Talalay is Oeko-Tex certified and tested for harmful substances.
Picking thickness and ILD for your RV bed
For most RV beds, a 3 inch Talalay topper in 28 ILD (medium) is the right starting point; it gives a firm camper mattress a supportive, responsive feel that suits back sleepers and couples. Side sleepers and lighter sleepers usually prefer 24 ILD (softer), which allows more give at the shoulders and hips.
Go with 2 inches for bunks, cab-over beds, and anywhere ceiling clearance is tight, or when the stock mattress is already decent and you only want a cooler, springier surface. Latex is heavier than memory foam, so a 2 inch topper is also easier to lift when you need to get to under-bed storage. If you are unsure, describe your rig, your sleep position, and the current mattress when you request a quote and we will suggest a combination.

Questions about latex rv mattress toppers
Is a latex RV mattress topper cooler than memory foam?
Yes. Talalay latex has an open-cell structure that lets air pass through, and because it does not contour as deeply, less of your body is enclosed by the surface. Heat dissipates instead of building up. In a warm RV, latex is the coolest-sleeping topper material LOUNJ offers, ahead of even our gel-infused memory foam.
Can you cut a latex topper to my short queen or RV king?
Yes. We cut Talalay latex to all 12 of our RV sizes, including short queen 60×75, RV king 72×80, short king 72×75, and the common bunk sizes. If your mattress is an unusual size, we can cut any rectangle up to 80×84 inches in half-inch increments. Measure the mattress, not the platform, and submit the dimensions with your quote request.
Why is the latex RV topper sold by quote instead of in the cart?
We currently cut latex to order rather than stocking finished SKUs, which lets you specify the exact size, thickness, and ILD for your rig without paying for inventory we would otherwise have to carry. Submit your specs on the custom topper page and you will hear back with pricing within 1 to 2 business days.
How heavy is a latex RV topper?
Latex is denser than memory foam, so a 3 inch short queen latex topper weighs noticeably more than the equivalent memory foam topper. That weight helps it stay in place, but consider it if your bed lifts on struts for storage access. A 2 inch latex topper is a good compromise for lifting beds and bunks.
Does latex have a smell when new?
Natural Talalay latex has a faint, slightly sweet scent when first unpacked, similar to a new rubber band, and it fades within a few days of airing out. It is not chemical off-gassing; our latex is Oeko-Tex certified and tested for harmful substances. Open the RV windows or roof vent for a day and the scent will be gone.
Can I try a latex RV topper and return it?
Yes. Latex RV toppers are covered by the same 30-Night Happiness Guarantee as every LOUNJ topper. Sleep on it for up to 30 nights, and if it is not the right feel for you, contact us for a free return with no fees. Every latex topper also carries a 5-year warranty against defects.
